Product design, app, packaging, stands. Wezr is a connected nomadic weather station for outdoor athletes. A complete project carried out in two versions between 2015 and 2017, with a crowdfunding campaign financed at more than 250%.
The weather to the nearest kilometre, updated every five minutes, coupled with a smartphone via Bluetooth: this is the promise of Wezr. A portable nomadic sensor that the outdoor athlete takes with him, and which gives him local conditions infinitely more accurate than forecasts generalised in the department.
Stéphane, CEO of Wezr, contacted us avec un brief exigeant.
Product design: portability and attachment
The central constraint of the Wezr sensor is its portability. It must operate in a variety of outdoor conditions: wind, rain, direct sun. It must be protected from solar radiation while remaining properly ventilated for reliable temperature measurement. These two requirements are contradictory and required specific work on the shape and layout of the openings.
Fastening was the other major issue. An outdoor weather sensor must be able to be attached to a bicycle handlebar, a sailboat mast, a backpack, a terrace railing. Classic systems such as clamps or screws only work on standardised supports. We have designed an adjustable elastic strap, capable of adapting to supports of a wide variety of shapes and diameters. Simple, without tools, without additional parts.
We have also designed a specific shelter for fixed use at home, allowing the sensor to be fixed outdoors in a permanent position.

The app: readability above all
As Wezr is a connected object, the app is not an accessory, it is half of the product. An athlete on the move consults his phone quickly. The information must be accessible at a glance, without complicated navigation.
We designed an interface where the weather conditions of the moment are immediately visible, the favorite spots accessible in a gesture, and the search for a place intuitively. The graphic universe of the sensor a été repris et adapté pour l’écran, avec une palette et des typographies qui fonctionnent aussi bien en plein soleil qu’en basse luminosité.

Packaging: explaining the new in ten centimetres
Packaging for an unprecedented product is a special exercise. The potential buyer has no reference to understand what he is holding in his hand. The box has to do the work of conviction on the shelves, without a salesperson.
On a side of ten centimetres, we balanced the graphic elements of identity and the informative content: areas of application, use case, visual of the product. The interior paper instructions were produced in the same spirit, clear and illustrated.

The stands: adapting the universe to the context
CES in Las Vegas, Paris Boat Show, SaintéLyon trail: three events, three different audiences, Three presentation contexts. We designed Several stands en adaptant à chaque fois l’univers visuel de la marque au public concerné, sans perdre la cohérence d’ensemble.
The result
The crowdfunding campaign on KissKissBankBank was financed at more than 250% of its goal. The first version of the sensor was put on sale in 2017. We then designed the second version in the same year.
"Wezr is a connected object concept in the field of weather. A particularly technical and complex subject. Our target, the outdoor athlete, is particularly demanding. Therefore, we had to create a functional and attractive object. Cubedesigners produced different designs for us, which we refined by collaborating with our beta testers. Throughout the project, the team was able to listen to our vision and objectives. In the end, they were able to meet our needs brilliantly. »
